Soon the
little web wears off, but the caterpillars remain in the family and spend
their days eating nettle leaves and growing. Eventually, they moult for another time, after which they disperse. They live on their own and are mature caterpillars now, preparing to turn into a chrysalis. They keep feeding for another few days. Finally, they stop feeding and look for a hidden leaf. They attach their tail-end to a little silky patch, that they can weave. Then they drop their front-end and remain upside down, their front-end bent forward.
