The ??Linien
Hawk-moth (Hyles
livornica) is another
species that shows quite esthetical
colors and patterns.
The basic color on the fore-wings is olive, hatched by light lines, with a light blues stripe on the back rim of the wing. The hind-wings are pink and have dark stripes. In the spring of some years, this species migrates from northern Africa and the Canaries to central and northern Europe to produce a generation during the summer. The species cannot survive a European winter, which is why it occurs irregularly in Europe. |
