How Flies Do it: Bye!

...the "good-bye" position

Back to Platystoma seminationis: After mating the separation is initiated, mostly by the female. She lifts her ovipositor, including the male, steeply upward, while their bodies separate. Mostly, the male flies off first.

José's comment on this species: "I have observed Platystoma for many times, and I was able to watch many matings partly or completely. Each time, it is interesting again, and my idea is that in our own behaviour we resemble these flies much more than we like it".

The story on the mating behaviour of flies is finished now. You may want to select a chapter once again from the bottom switch board or go to the top switch board to select a different story.
