The young larvae remain together in a
group until they are grown up. They suck on flowers of the
          birch or on its leaves.
The individuals find each others by smell.
After a while, they no longer need their mother's protection and she leaves. The larvae continue to grow and to moult, and show up in a different outfit every now and then. |
