Good Luck and Bad Luck in the Life of Ladybirds: Good Luck Multiplying

 

Usually, human beings have a special relationship to ladybirds: as soon as they come across one of these round-shaped, bright colored humpbacks they smile with joyful sympathy.

Presumably, they are in a happier mood after encountering a ladybird and in that kind of mood things may work our better. 

These circumstances may have led to the assumption that ladybirds bring good luck. For the luck of the ladybirds - other creatures such as spiders have quite a problem in obtaining any sympathies from humans.

A question often asked is, whether the number of spots on the back of a ladybird indicates its age. It does not. There are many species in the family of ladybirds, and there are many different colors, spot types and spot numbers. They tell something about the species that the ladybird belongs to. Ladybirds mostly live for a year or a year and a half.
