After the cut section has
sufficiently wilted, from the central vein the female starts to pull
the ends together. She looks like she is quite a strong girl handling
the big sheets.
Millimeter by millimeter she works herself downward, while the ends of the leaf shift further across one another. |
Then she starts to twist a spiral by the
inner end of the leaf.
By her right legs she holds to the hind wall, while her left legs move the spiral in front of her towards the right. This is how she starts the leaf roll. While doing so, she makes use of the fact that the leaf has lost quite some tension and does not resist too much any more to bending. |
